The Tapper in Stardew Valley is a handy tool that allows you to harvest sap from trees around the map, including maple trees, which results in Maple Syrup. Maple Syrup is used for various purposes, including tailoring, cooking, and more, but you'll need to put in some work to obtain it.

Let's delve a little deeper into what you can use Maple Syrup for in Stardew Valley and how to make it using the Tapper.

What Is Maple Syrup Used For In Stardew Valley?

Maple Syrup is used in several food, crafting, and tailoring recipes in Stardew Valley, though it cannot be eaten or used by itself. Here are all of the recipes that include Maple Syrup:

  • Maple Bar
    • Maple Syrup (x1)
    • Sugar (x1)
    • Wheat Flour (x1)
  • Bee House
    • Wood (x40)
    • Coal (x8)
    • Iron Bar (x1)
    • Maple Syrup (x1)
  • Floppy Beanie (Tailoring)

Maple Syrup can also be used as orange dye.

How to Make Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley

Making Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley requires a Tapper. For a Tapper, you'll need these ingredients:

  • 40x Wood
  • 2x Copper Bars

You'll also need to achieve a Level 3 in the Foraging skill before you're able to craft the Tapper.

Now that you have your Tapper in hand approach a Maple Tree and attach the Tapper from your inventory. You'll need to wait for a little over a week - 9 days - but after this time ends, you'll have 1x Maple Syrup in your inventory that you can use for any recipes you like.

If you're in late-game Stardew Valley - once you've completed the Community Center and also successfully fixed Willy's boat - you can buy the Heavy Tapper from Mr. Qi on Ginger Island in return for 20x Qi gems. This will allow you to produce double the Maple Syrup from each tree, meaning you'll get 2x Maple Syrup every nine days instead of just one.
